Before being shipped off to war, Ridgway, age 18, married his first steady girlfriend, Claudia Barrows. While overseas, Claudia cheated on Ridgway, which infuriated him. However, Ridgway wasn’t faithful to his wife, either. He spent a lot of time in the company of prostitutes and caught gonorrhea. Having an STD pissed him off, but not enough to stop him from having unprotected sex with prostitutes.
