Marie Antoinette Said 'Let Them Eat Cake'
Marie Antoinette Said 'Let Them Eat Cake'
Another myth debunked....

Was Marie Antoinette a spoiled queen who threw luxurious parties while the French people starved? It certainly doesn't help her image that most people think when she learned of her starving subjects in the early months of the French Revolution, Marie Antoinette said "let them eat cake." Except most historians believe Marie Antoinette never uttered those words.

The remark likely predates Marie Antoinette by over a century, with evidence that the wife of King Louis XIV, Marie-Thérèse, made a similar comment about the peasants eating pastries.

What's your reaction?
