When we think of deadly animals, the biggest and baddest often come to mind. But looking at the data in terms of which ones have caused the most death and devastation, we find that a surprising number of them aren't what we'd expect.
The Most Dangerous Shark
A lot of shark species are considered harmless to humans. Whale sharks, despite their seemingly fearsome name, limit their diet to plankton, while others species like angel sharks aren't even big enough for most to consider scary. The great white shark, however, is legitimately scary, as it is the one who's attacked the most people out of any shark.
Second to the great white in terms of most dangerous to humans is either the tiger shark or the bull shark, who are known to attack just about anything that can fit in their mouth. Interestingly enough, most of the more than 400 species of shark are actually harmless, and would avoid swimming close to humans.
