Barkmann's Trial and Execution
Barkmann's reign of horror ended when she was apprehended by the Allies as she attempted to blend in with a group of refugees. In 1946, she was brought to trial and sentenced to death. During her trial, she remained defiant and unapologetic. Barkmann met her end through the gallows, ironically suffering a similar fate to many she heartlessly consigned to death during her time in Stutthof.
