Jenny-Wanda Barkmann was one of the most brutal guards at Stutthof Concentration Camp
The History of Stutthof Concentration Camp
Situated near the small Polish town of Sztutowo, the Stutthof concentration camp was initially built as an internment camp for Polish prisoners during World War II. However, as the war escalated, so too did the brutal intentions and escalating horror in these camps. Integration into the pervasive Nazi concentration camp network transformed Stutthof from a detention centre into a factory of death. It became the final destination for approximately 110,000 prisoners, and out of these, an estimated 65,000 people were cruelly murdered. The sanguinary fate of individuals in this place was often sealed by merciless guards, such as Jenny-Wanda Barkmann.
