The Ancient Ram Inn and its Historical Significance
Located in Wotten-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, the Ancient Ram Inn is one of Britain's oldest and most haunted buildings. This 12th-century structure served initially as a place of lodging for masons, slaves and workers involved in the construction of the nearby St. Mary's Church. Its unique history, coupled with its continuous occupation over the centuries, contributes to its paranormal reputation today.
The inn's historical significance extends beyond architecture and local lore. It's said to sit on two ley lines, believed by some to be spiritual paths with strong psychic energy. These intersect at the inn from Stonehenge, fuelling theories of supernatural occurrences. Adding to the occult aura, it is also speculated that the building was constructed on an ancient pagan burial ground.
