11 Wretched Facts about Queen Victoria
Queen Victoria ruled half the world including Australia, Canada, and India. They tried to assassinate her at least seven times.

Victoria Grew Up as Prey, Without a Father Figure

She was born in 1819. Her father Prince Edward was the fourth son of King George III. Edward died of pneumonia before the girl turned one. For the second time in her life, Victoria’s mother German Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld was a widow. She allowed her Comptroller to raise the girl instead of her. Mothering two older children was already enough for the German princess.

By the age of five, Victoria became Comptroller Conroy’s project. Sir John Conroy would do everything to get the girl to the throne. Soon the Parliament called Victoria the “heir presumptive” — a potential ruler.

Worried about his destiny, Victoria’s uncle King William IV tried to get custody of the girl. But it was in vain. To revenge, Conroy campaigned against the King calling him a degenerate. Well, he had ten illegitimate children.

They all fought for the girl but no one gave her love.
